Caught stealing 200 kilos of artichokes (10/12/2008)

Local Police Cartagena surprised last Saturday, December 6, two individuals as they tried to steal 200 kilos of artichokes from a farm in La Puebla.

The incident took place about 16:45 pm when a local police patrol was conducting its own prevention efforts of public safety in the area of La Puebla, particularly in the vicinity of the El Arquillo, noting the other side of the property to two individuals within a breeding ground for artichokes and next to these, a red car with the trunk open.

Agents come to the place where were these people, who, realizing their presence ran away, introducing a bag of artichokes in the trunk of the vehicle.

The police proceeded to cut them off to prevent their escape, carrying identification.

Here, when asked what activity they were doing, said they were cutting a bag of artichokes because the farm owner had given permission.

The officers contacted the owner by telephone, denied having authorized anyone and was headed to the scene.

The police searched the car and found in the trunk a lot of artichokes, about 200 kilos, which had caught the same property with the intention of selling.

Already in the scene, the owner found that there had been damage to the plantation worth 300 euros to start with hands artichokes.

Products unfit for consumption, as has just been sprayed, were seized and delivered to the farm owner, who indicated his willingness to denounce those involved.
