The Government of Murcia studying the business opportunities arising from major investments in the Region (22/11/2008)

The Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, under the Industrial Plan for the Region of Murcia, considering new business opportunities prompted by the significant investment projects in the region such as Repsol Cartagena and Lorca Noksel.

In this context, members of the Instituto de Fomento Region de Murcia (Info) and the Young Entrepreneurs Association (AJE) in Cartagena this week held a meeting with the Federation of Employers of Puertollano (FEPU), Ciudad Real, with In order to know the advantages of multinationals in that area.

With this meeting, both institutions seek to exploit the synergies and expertise of entrepreneurs in Ciudad Real, in particular the important business and petrochemicals complex in Puertollano, in which Repsol YPF has a plant that has the greater technical complexity of all Spanish refineries, both for the variety of its products and the integration of the units, and will be the starting model for the works to carry out the oil in the Valley of tailings.

In this event, entrepreneurs from Puertollano described the articulation of a new industrial model, according to the needs of investments, in this case by Repsol, which led to a powerful industry and auxiliary supplies.

The company Repsol YPF announced earlier this year increased its planned investment in the Valley of tailings in more than 50 percent, reaching 3,262 million euros.

A significant aspect of this investment is that during the period of execution of the works, about three years, the plant will create about 300 direct jobs, plus 400 contractors and 1,500 jobs per day induced.
