Lhicarsa begin the revegetation of the landfill after allegations Gorguel ANSE (19/11/2008)

All day yesterday, Tuesday, a bulldozer carried out holes on the northern slope of the former landfill Gorguel to proceed subsequently to complete planting of vegetation and environmental restoration, which supposedly had already been completed at least a couple years.

According to information published by the same City of Cartagena on new facilities for treating municipal solid waste landfill closure of rejections of the composting plant in "The Gorguel", co-financed with European Union funds, including planting between 17,900 and 62,527 units of shrub seedlings in a work that was completed in late 2004.

However, contrary to what had been affirmed by both the waste management company, Lhicarsa, for the same City of Cartagena, there had been the revegetation of the site of the old landfill, which had provided extensive erosion the same areas, making even a breakdown of the slopes on the southeast.

ANSE warmly welcomes the start of this work has been possible thanks to the allegations made in recent days, and demonstrated the failure of the restoration project.

The Association held a meeting last Monday in Murcia with the Director General of Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, who confirmed the opening of a dossier investigating the situation of the various facilities of the landfill, and noted that the lack of revegetation of the landfill under the sealing project.
