The municipal policies will affect mobility in public transport (30/10/2008)

The Councillor for Infrastructure, Transport, Works and Projects, José Vicente Albaladejo, yesterday chaired a working meeting of the Civic Committee of the Pedestrian and Bicycle, participatory body created by the city of Cartagena to facilitate dialogue with local actors linked to pedestrian and bicycle mobility.

Among the proposals that were discussed included the giving a greater role in the municipal policies of mobility by public transport, to match the next year the activities of the European Mobility Week with the bike festival, the to design more effective strategies to raise public awareness on mobility and improve a number of conflicting points of existing cycle routes today.

During the meeting, presented the evaluation report of activities undertaken by the City of Cartagena during the last edition of the European Mobility Week, described the status of implementation in which the Project is to promote use of bicycle + bike has been supported by the Ministry of Development, was released the proposed organization and implementation of Municipal Office of Transportation has been submitted to a call for EU aid and presented the work program expected in the coming months and the year 2009.

The event was attended by President of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations and District Cartagena, members of the association Vía Libre Cartagena and representatives of ONCE and AMFUCC (United Association of Physically Disabled of Cartagena and Shire).

The next meeting of this Committee will be held next November.
