Vuelve una nueva edición del concurso 'Entre Cuerdas y Metales', un certamen de música clásica para jóvenes intérpretes de la Región de Murcia que este año llega a su duodécima edición.

Becomes a new edition of the 'Between Strings and Metals', a classical music competition for young performers in the region of Murcia which this year reaches its twelfth edition.

 

Organized by the Department of Youth of Cartagena and the Conservatory of Music, this competition tries to encourage young artists and musicians, allowing access to a range of cultural and leisure activities throughout the year.

The competition is open to youth participation throughout the region, the only of its kind to be held in the region, as highlighted by the councilman of Youth, Javier Herrero during the presentation of the competition and which has been accompanied by the deputy director of the Conservatory, César Montalvo, and Pedro Martinez Garcia of the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra.

To participate in this contest applicants must be pursuing professional studies in music at any of the following seven categories: piano, strings, guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion and vocals.

This year, two stages, as in previous editions, each of the rules: a qualifying and final, where contestants will perform two works of free choice.

The economic value amounts reserved for awards to the amount of 7,000 euros in total, setting a first prize in each of the modalities of 700 euros and a second prize of 300 euros.

The total budget of the competition is 40,450 euros.

S owever, one of the attractions of this competition, says Smith, is the chance of winning play with a professional orchestra.

For this purpose, are made for the third consecutive year, a series of promotional gigs, in which the winners of last year, will participate, as soloists with the Chamber Orchestra Professional Cartagena (which meets next December five years after its creation) and will take place, given the regional nature of the contest, in San Javier, Lorca and Cartagena.

In this last concert, which coincides with the closing of the contest and the awards will be offered the opportunity to one of the winners of last year playing as a soloist with the orchestra again.

It is a unique opportunity, as this act gather all participants in this edition.

CALENDAR

The registration deadline for the contest ends on January 19, 2009.

Entries will be delivered to the Department of Youth, on weekdays from 9.00 to 14.00.

Anticipating that the level of participation will be as high or even higher than in the last issue (which presented 89 young people in particular), there will be two phases.

The first screening will take place on the following dates:

March 23: CANTO

March 24: Brass

March 25: PERCUSSION

March 26: STRING

March 30: GUITAR

March 31: WOODWIND

April 1: PIANO

The final phase, where they will play only those who have been selected in the first phase will take place during the month of April.

Auditions will be held in the Auditorium of the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Cartagena.

The entrance to the promotional gigs, auditions and evening concert will be free until all seats.
