Popular Parliamentary Group is committed to "sustainable mobility" in the Valley of Escombreras (29/10/2008)

The deputy of the Popular Group, Martin Quiñonero, has asked the Regional Government carrying out an analysis and diagnosis of internal mobility and accessibility to the Valley of tailings to improve it "both under normal and emergency situation."

According Quiñonero, one of the objectives of the study must be sustainable mobility in the valley "in order to increase those less polluting transport modes, like rail for goods and people and public transport by road."

Also, the popular deputy explained that "both companies in the valley, such as workers' representatives should be consulted during the drafting and informed of the study's conclusions."

The activity generates Escombreras Valley commuting more than 6,000 workers, most of them in his vehicle, "as to where there is adequate public transportation and buses available to workers by companies are scarce during peak hours causing major deductions at the entrances and exits. "

"This mode of transport increases energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions, levels of air and noise pollution and also imposes major economic losses in the form of circulatory congestion, absenteeism or tardiness."

In this sense, according Quiñonero, "is where the concept of sustainable mobility is particularly important."

Finally, the popular MP has stated that "the findings of this study will be effective in the choice of measures that promote and strengthen the industrial zone of tailings, and solve the lack of infrastructure that affect the accessibility, mobility, competitiveness and security the area. "
