The City Council will consider ways to save on your electricity bill (29/07/2008)

Cartagena City Council has proposed to conduct an energy conservation campaign, beginning with a study of power consumption of the departments and municipal services and see the points that could save money on electricity bills.

This initiative was raised during the meeting that the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, held this morning with the Iberdrola group's institutional representative in the region of Murcia, Patricio Valverde, and the head of distribution thereof, César Calomarde, together to the aldermen of Services, Enrique Pérez Abellán, Urbanism, and Infrastructure Segado Joaquín, José Vicente Albaladejo, to address issues related to the activity of this company in the town and coordinate action, taking the execution of certain works.

As explained by Enrique Pérez Abellán, Iberdrola study of 1,500 points which is currently contracted the City and are distributed by the municipal, to detect those that occur in excessive consumption and savings could be susceptible.

Another theme of the meeting was the burial of power lines from the center of the city, a project that was presented by the mayor to Iberdrola last October.

Finally, the Iberdrola representatives have informed Pilar Barreiro of the big investments the company has launched in Cartagena, pointing out the two substations and Cartagena Mandarache West, which could be operating by 2011 or 2012 and represent an investment of about 20 million euros.

With them are five substations with which the municipality will have to serve a growing population and will continue in the coming years, while providing more reliable service to have greater energy boost.
