The new primary care clinic in La Aparecida will cover more than 1,200 people (14/07/2008)

The council of La Aparecida has launched this morning a new primary care clinic, with the opening ceremony which was attended by the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios.

The building has been built on a plot of 826 municipal square meters, located at the confluence of the Conde de Lemos Street and Kings.

It has a floor area of 190 meters and 173 useful.

The budget that has accounted for its construction has been of 247,359 euros, of which 175,710 have been provided by the Ministry of Health and the remainder of the municipal budget.

The clinic will cover 1,243 inhabitants of the hamlet, even though their facilities are ready to serve a population of 2,500, as indicated by the Minister of Health.

Will also offer a lounge for the medical staff, toilets, reception administrative, warehouse, lobby and waiting room.

The center also with air conditioning and an internal computer network that will connect all units in the clinic with other health facilities, also incorporating the computerized medical record.

The mayor, meanwhile, pointed out that there are two more offices under construction, Isla Plana and The Albujón, and three more clinics planned: that of the trough, the Llano del Beal and La Palma.

With these new facilities, he said, is completed the health map of the city of Cartagena, as well as other infrastructures such as General Hospital, School of Nursing and the future of Parkinson's focal point.

With regard to the latter, Barreiro has indicated that a couple of weeks ago made a written question in Congress on this issue, calling the lack of respect for institutions and associations of patients with Parkinson's lack of response and budgets for a center where the soil was delivered five years ago.

On the other hand, and questions from journalists, the Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, explained, in respect to the strike of two ambulance companies, that their advice can not accept the conditions of these two companies because it would be an illegality competitive system of public administration.

In addition, he recalled that the Ministry has offered the possibility of subrogation for workers of these companies before August 1, so it regretted the situation that has arisen with the workers of these two companies in particular.
