The City improved management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (06/06/2008)

The City of Cartagena and the European Recycling Platform (ERP) have signed an agreement, approved this morning by the local Government Board, to improve the collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

This agreement is in addition to those already existing in the municipality for the collection and recycling of other waste such as glass, cardboard and lightweight packaging.

The city spokesman, Joaquin Mowing, explained that so far deposited citizens such electrical and electronic waste in the EcoPark or, at worst, in the usual containers are scattered across the city.

From this point, were taken to a treatment plant and a manager responsible for collecting and processing properly.

For this service, the City should pay a small fee.

Thanks to the agreement signed with ERP, the company responsible for collecting and recycling of waste, in addition to paying the City a small fee - 40 euros per tonne - to carry it out.
