El Cid and his times, in the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy (27/03/2008)

From day 1 to April 28 may be viewed at the Cultural Center Exhibition Luzzy Ramón Alonso El Cid and his times.

This exhibition has been kindly provided by the Junta de Castilla y León to the city of Cartagena.

To mark the eighth anniversary of the Cantar del Mio Cid, the Everest Group submitted to the Junta de Castilla y León the launch of a new exhibition on this character.

During the year 2008, this exhibition can be seen in cities across Spain, including Cartagena.

This exhibition is open to children from 8 years at a family audience in general.

The objectives of the exposition of which is considered the first comprehensive narrative works of Spanish literature written in a Romance language are:

Can we create a teaching that will bring us the figure of "El Cid", contributing to a better understanding of this historical figure and the times in which he lived.

"Promoting reading and relate it to a key figure in our history.

"Think about different roles and behaviors that show us the path of D.

Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar.

Through the exhibition and its informative panels with images, visitors can learn about the figure of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar.

Also you can see monuments linked to the character and the Middle Ages, such as the Torres de Quart Valencia or the Monastery of Silos.

There are also sculptures of Castilian gentleman and his wife Jimena.

The exhibition explains how was the art and culture of the time, focus on the anonymity of the artists.

The Middle Ages was the stage where the minstrels and start the romance language.

The panels also speak Tizona of Cid sword or movie starring Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren.

Another panel is about the episode of the Lion, discussed whether it was real or not scholars.

The exhibition introduces the viewer in the historical moment in which life developed Diaz de Vivar.

It explains what weapons were used in the art of war, tools such as chain mail, helmet, ... and also items that were brought to the battlefield as the pennant or banner.

Furthermore it is reported as the Iberian Peninsula was made in those days, while the southern Al-Andalus, in the hands of Muslims, and the various Christian kingdoms of the north.

Other things you can learn the visitor is like the daily life: clothing, food, hygiene, transport, the feudal system (with the nobility, clergy and peasantry).

How could it be otherwise, it exposes the fact of the Reconquista and the Route or Camino del Cid.
