Mucho Mas Mayo festival, organized by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, again flooding the city of Cartagena de young talents from 9 to 18 May.

With three editions has been fully consolidated as a great festival of artistic interventions in urban space, as highlighted by the Director General for Cultural Promotion, Antonio Martínez, at the launch event, which has also been Councilman Youth, Javier Herrero, and Injuve director, Teresa Moreno.

More than 300 young artists will participate in around the 61 performances and 14 workshops planned.

Disciplines scheduled in the festival, which takes place in the historic city center, are installations and interventions, film, photography, sculpture, video, music, theater, performance, literature, dance, street entertainment, circus ...

The festival goes beyond the local area in which it develops, and is more than 35 percent of the participants are from outside Cartagena.

There are artists of Murcia, Barcelona, Canary Islands, France, China and Bulgaria, to name just some of the sources.

Furthermore, the number, diversity, quality and innovation of proposals to shape the program is designated as one of the most unique cultural offerings and powerful in the region of Murcia.

Since its inception, Mucho Mas Mayo (MMM) is a festival that is exploring new ways for young artists can showcase their creations and in turn the citizens to be participants in the immense creative capital provided by these new values.

The spaces where they will develop MMM is the historic old city, which runs from the Plaza of Spain, to the port, along the pedestrian axis and transverse to the area.

This year also serve as a space for intervention in the neighborhoods of Cartagena, which will change each year.

This year the area chosen was the Barrio Virgen de la Caridad.

The festival is divided into several sections to make your programming time: projects selected by a committee of experts, through public competition, fixed projects that take place every year, activities produced by the festival itself, and cultural activities contracted.

Of all the works committee has selected 38 projects, including facilities to be poetic, such as those made Lola Nieto linking urban architecture and poetry, which uses the corners of buildings to place poetry, or Celebrity regular multidisciplinary work where underground artists of the city, living in obscurity and out of the music market have the opportunity to be released in different parts of the city.

Also photographic works have been selected as the Pablo Sanchez has organized the Valley with the title Freeland, a large-format photographic collective about multiculturalism, which includes photographs of over 20 artists, many press photographers.

Fixed and stable part of the festival consists of the Short Film Week, the series of conferences, workshops and a guest artist this year is Juan Delgado.

Short Film Week is the only example of short films in the port city, and has received 248 short this year, about sixty more than the previous sample.

The short week has three sections: short sections of Cartagena, short section of regional and national short films section.

May 14 will be screened from 22:00 hours in the neighborhood Virgen de la Caridad, 15 and 16 May in the Plaza San Francisco.

The lecture series this year has the theme Transformations.

The festival budget is around 165,000 euros, which must be added 35,000 as training (courses, workshops and conferences) and 100,000 other cultural programming.
