The City Council receives the proposed demolition of the factory zincs (30/04/2008)

The City of Cartagena, with the Town Planning Joaquin Segado as representative, has received this morning the license application for the proposed demolition of the Spanish company of Zinc.

Mowing has said that from next week's municipal technicians reviewed the project and during the second week of May will take place the first technical committee, along with the company, to address possible shortcomings of this project.

Mowing has stressed the absolute priority of the Zinc Spanish for City Council, which means that any process that has to do with the municipal administration will be done in the shortest possible time.

This demolition project has been the company's next step, after delivery of the summary report introduces a process of environmental impact assessment and that the City sent to the administration concerned.

Mowing also recalled that the condition without which the land currently occupied by the factory zincs will not be reclassified as building land is to maintain industrial activity and jobs.

On the other hand, the president of the Works of zincs, Juan Paredes, said that training of workers will be essential during the period of inactivity until they start the new factory.

The demolition project delivered this morning in the city is based on facilities zincs down by mechanical means or by blasting, grading and transfer waste to landfills.

To accomplish this, we have been in contact with two national companies, Detex Volcomsa and experts on hazardous waste management.

The demolition budget is around four million euros, as indicated by the Director of Spanish Operations of Zinc, José Luis Arce.
