The Ministry of Water invests in the municipality of Cartagena over 3.7 million sanitation (26/01/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment invested in the city of Cartagena last year more than 3.7 million euros in improving the sewerage and disposal of waste underground.

Water CEO, Andres Martinez, visited this morning the works of two collectors of sanitation in places of Media Legua and Los Garcia, part of the investment made by the Ministry.

These two new collectors, which will improve the sewerage system with access to 1,100 inhabitants, represent an investment of around 500,000 euros.

The collector of the Media League has a total length of 437 meters performance and 800 millimeters in diameter, and runs parallel to the existing collector at San Gines.

In this action the collector is replaced in the stretch of the Rambla with a new one with the same type of pipe.

The collector Garcia has 696 meters long and 315 millimeters in diameter, runs along Chestnut Street, Avenue and Avenue Portús Los Garcias, for entroncar directly with the existing network at the dam.

Andres Martinez explained that "the aim of this action is to provide network wastewater disposal to the Los Garcia, who currently have this service, thus eliminating the possible discharge into the subsoil through existing septic tanks. Also The collector of the Media League currently does not have enough capacity to evacuate the waste water in the area is improved, resulting in overflow of the network in the Rambla Street. "
