Jose Lopez gets to the board of the Brotherhood mako that expose their projects and the current state of the chapel (17/12/2015)

The mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, met this morning with the Big Brother of the Brotherhood mako, Domingo Bastida, today to inquire about the abode of brotherhood and the situation of the chapel of the Church of Santo Domingo.

The meeting was also attended by the first deputy and secretary general of the Marrajos, Jose Manuel Sanchez and Jose Luis Saez, respectively.

At the meeting, held at the Palace Hall, the brothers Lopez explained the current situation of the chapel Marraja 1732, at the military church of Santo Domingo, and a year ago he suffered a detached its cover.

Such damage forced to keep it closed until it reopened, on 21 November, following the works of the first phase.

Among the ideas being considered is to include the chapel in the various tourist routes that the city offers.

Similarly, the mayor was able to see some projects carried out by the Brotherhood, as collecting food Saturday, where nearly 10,000 kilos of food that will be donated to various charities met the municipality as well as the Marraja Foundation, founded in 1996 and with which the Consistory renew the cooperation agreement that expired last September.

This institution aims at assisting elderly people living isolated familiarly, their care and affection by volunteers of the Brotherhood mako.

Also, Bastida, accompanied by the First Commissioner Jose Manuel Sanchez, and Secretary General, José Luis Sáez, handed the mayor a Medal of the Brotherhood, in the face of events to be held in the next Lent in which the mayor will participate, along with a picture of a shark fish, which gives its name to the brotherhood.

After the meeting, makos representatives have welcomed the willingness and interest shown by the mayor.

Meanwhile, Lopez expressed his gratitude for receiving the medal of the Brotherhood mako because it is a historical institution of our city.
