The VIII Blood Donation Marathon expected to break records this year (14/12/2015)

The mayor has announced that it will address cultural associations and social institutions of the municipality to encourage donation Thursday at the Town Hall, in the charity event organized every year by the SER in collaboration with the Regional Blood Donation Center

If Cartagena has always been known for being one of the municipalities that make blood donations in the region of Murcia, you now have the chance to prove, during the celebration on Thursday 17 December VIII Blood Donation Marathon, an event organized Cartagena Radio Cadena SER in collaboration with the Regional Blood Donation Center and City Hall.

The mayor, Jose Lopez, who has been in the presentation of Marathon accompanied by the director of the SER in Cartagena, Antonio Rosa, and the head of the department of promotion of Blood Donation Center, Antonia Gomez has announced that it will call on through social networks and the municipal website, so that social and cultural organizations in the city to join this initiative, myself donate blood and encourage all citizens and visitors to come Thursday to the Town Hall and donate too.

And this year makes it more necessary than ever, since there has been a decrease of 11 percent in donations in Cartagena and we must help it, as each donor can save three lives, emphasized Antonia Gomez.

Especially rare are the reserves of the group A + (positive), but also make the lack of donor groups A- (negative) and 0- (negative).

As for the balance of this year, over the same a total of 7,321 people have received 1046 blood and platelet transfusions received in the Health Area 2 Cartagena, blood donation is a social responsibility of each of us or is bought or sold.

Perhaps one of the issues that may have influenced the decline in donations in recent times is the change in location of the device that the Blood Donation Center was installed at the entrance of the hospital Rosell, who has gone to the third floor, which it is no longer to pass.

In this sense, the mayor noted that in the last meeting with the Minister of Health, talked about the possibility of putting a clinic in the Santa Lucia hospital, which is the end of the hospital where reference is made major surgery.

An initiative could be launched soon, since as reported by Antonia Gómez, we plan to talk to the management of St. Lucia to seek us a location where we are visible and they do regularly, as we have in other hospitals in the region.

For his part, Antonio Rosa also joined the appeal and recalled how the numbers of donors in marathons that have been organized, were first rising, 260 donations in the first edition in 2008 to the maximum recorded, 368, in the 2011, but they have since fallen to 278 last year.
