The City of Cartagena transmits its commitment to the Rights of the Child (20/11/2015)

Cartagena adds to the celebration of Universal Children's Day, November 20 today.

Proof of this are the more than 400 children who have participated in numerous activities this morning for their rights, in addition to reading the Manifesto, which have voice Councilman Quality of Life area, Francisco Calderon, Education councilor, David Martinez and the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin.

In addition, the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belen Castejon, has also joined some of the activities and the flashmob by children.

The day began with a concentration of more than 400 boys and girls from different schools in Cartagena and La Concepción, San Isidoro and Santa Florentina, Board Sacred Heart, Santa Maria Micaela, Hannibal, Hasdrubal, Our Lady of the Sea, Stella Maris , Espada, Los Molinos, Isaac Peral, Franciscans and the Polytechnic, at the beginning of the Carmen street, where they have launched to the Town Hall Square, the rhythm of the music.

At the end of March this I Walk for your rights, and once you have reached the town hall square, the area councilor Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, as well as the mayors of Education and Social Services, David Martinez and Carmen Martin, respectively, they have carried out the reading of the Manifesto.

Calderon has handed in her reading the importance of celebrating this day as International Children's Day: A day of celebration for the progress made, but mostly it is also the day to draw attention to the plight of those children most disadvantaged, to raise awareness of child rights and the importance of working every day for their welfare and development.

For his part, David Martinez, has stated the need to enforce the rights of children.

He also said that we should treat children as full citizens, regardless of their social, ethnic, gender or abilities.

David Martinez has also stressed that it is important to recognize the value of their opinions, they can participate in decisions that affect them.

Finally, Carmen Martin, Councillor for Social Services, has highlighted the objective of this day: remind citizens that children are the most vulnerable to any crisis situation.

This day reminds everyone has their rights, wherever in the world they come from.

Martin Love also explained that the City Council want to endorse our strong commitment to building a more stable, more democratic, more prosperous and inclusive society, and all this is not possible without work every day for the respect of children and girls and their rights.

After the reading of the Manifesto, the children have made a flashmob organized by the Association Rascasa, where more than 450 boys and girls have expressed Cartagena rights as children to the rhythm of music and joy.
