The Local Police of Cartagena, a pioneer in alcohol tests and drugs, held in the afternoon of Thursday two controls traffic to detect drugs and alcohol in drivers who were held in the vicinity of the roundabout Villa Paris and Los Mateos street to street Mahon Greece.

In total 48 breath tests were conducted with negative results and the 6 tests for the detection of drugs in March tested positive (2 presence of THC and cocaine 1).

During these controls they were removed 2 cars impounded vehicles.

Local police recalls that the most significant factor in accidents in urban areas under the influence of alcohol is the belief that alcohol intake has no influence on driving.

The Road Safety Act is very strict about it, it prohibits driving with presence of drugs in the body, although they are excluded substances used on prescription and therapeutic purposes.

This infringement is considered very serious and is punishable by fines of 1,000 euros and the withdrawal of 6 points of the card.

The Criminal Code provides for drivers traveling under the influence of alcohol, drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances, imprisonment of three to six months or a fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one ninety days, and in any case, the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and motorcycles for longer than one and up to four years.

Refusal to submit to testing is considered a crime and is punishable with imprisonment from 6 months to 1 year and deprivation of the right to drive in 1-4 years.
