The traditional architecture of the Campo de Cartagena focus the IV National Congress of Ethnography (19/10/2015)

Rural League Campo de Cartagena, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities of Murcia and Cartagena City Council presented the IV NATIONAL CONGRESS OF A FIELD ethnographer to be held CARTAGENA in the Faculty of Business UPCT from 22 to 24 October 2015, with the main objective to promote the study, knowledge sharing and pooling on housing and other elements of traditional architecture Field Cartagena and the rest of the national territory.

At the congress they have signed one entenar c participants and presented thirty communications.

The program of activities will be held on Thursday and Friday, in morning and afternoon.

The popular or traditional architecture is understood as a local and craft constructive fact, deeply rooted in the environment and linked to climate, materials and social and economic functions, it is nothing but a repetition of invariants and proven solutions and proven over generations.

residential buildings and mansions or minimal housing, to public buildings, religious, industrial or representative, as ovens, forges, mills, laundries, churches, convents, monasteries, chapels, town halls, deposits, etc.

The study of traditional architecture pays attention to the characteristics of functionality, binding climate, the environment and materials, or by a particular builder process exclusively for the transmission of pre-industrial techniques and trades between generations automatically, considerations used to to define the architecture category of ¿rural¿, used to group a large number of buildings in rural areas today.

Traditional architecture encompasses a wide range of buildings with common characteristics in terms of shapes, materials and construction systems, closely linked to the geographical environment and the social, cultural and economic models of the human groups that make up the different settlements, which together allows to state the existence, in history, different types of architecture as invariant.

This type of architecture stems from the need to provide shelter for the primary sector activities, exercised by a society based on small communities were organized in subsistence economic system.

These constructions are made using simple, inexpensive techniques, and very limited materials, always looking for better adaptation to the physical environment employment, which does not presuppose any rigid geographical determinism, and that the physical framework provides only possibilities, not mandatory, and is the man who decides, not the place or the climate.
