The exhibition of photographs by José Matrán García, entitled Portraits: Light as an expression, has appeared in the Friday morning at the Palace Hall, where this afternoon, at 19.30 hours, will officially open on a ceremony attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, and Deputy Mayor, Ana Belen Castejon.

At press pass he was attended by the Councillor for Culture, David Martinez, along with the sons of Joseph Matrán, who run the gallery bezel Cartagena.

The exhibition will remain on display until January 7, 2016 at the Palace Hall, offers a tour of the best snapshots taken by Matrán in his study, everyday images, including family, which evoke the past and portray favorite moments in the life of the brilliant photographer who started his study in 1927, one of the few that was dedicated to the photography studio in Cartagena.

If the mayor of Culture has highlighted the original and characteristic way Matrán photograph of Joseph, his sons pointed out the importance of details, like light, which defines all his work, use it as a brush, or retouching images on negatives, which were made ​​in pencil. In fact, for the exhibition have had to restore many of these negatives, which were broken, and digitally edit them, assured José Matrán son.

Now, in this tribute of great documentary value, collected favorite photos Matrán Jose Garcia, and this is just one percent of the material is part of the photographer's archive, which is much higher.

The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10.00 to 13.30 and from 17.00 to 19.00.
