Citizens Cartagena asked the City Council to actively work with the bank books created by the FAPA (23/09/2015)

After the statements in the media by the president of the Federation of Associations of Parents (FAPA), Roberto Carlos Navarro, expressing regret the lack of cooperation of the current municipal government team, Citizens urged the council to Cartagena promote and assist the "book bank" of FAPA.

To this end the Councillor Municipal spokesperson Citizens, Manuel Padin, will present a motion in the municipal plenary tomorrow.

The entry into force of the Organic Law for the Improvement of Educational Quality (LOMCE) has forced students attending Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary to renew all their textbooks.

For many parents, this obligation represents a significant economic burden, considering that each book has an average cost of 30 euros.

In this situation, the FAPA Cartagena has launched a "book bank" that can be accessed any family;

if applicants also belong to any association integrated in the Federation they will be gratified at a discount.

In the "book bank" manuals are available to parents for just 11.50 euros and, if it is associated with AMPA, for 7.50 euros.

This is 60% cheaper than in bookstores.

The ultimate aim of "book bank" is to reuse educational resources, able to satisfy the demand of parents, generate significant cost savings to families and prevent children from starting the course without textbooks or without the necessary material.

This is the first year in which it has implemented the bank book.

For now, he Cartagena five schools participating: Carthago, Cabezos Gomáriz Gines, San Felix, Four Saints and the Mediterranean Institute, but the goal is that 90 AMPAS Cartagena adhere and be able to create a network of all the centers, increasing efficiency and eliminating duplication.

To implement this initiative, the FAPA has invested 10,000 euros.

The result achieved so far is that 150 parents have been able to acquire more than 500 books with a discount of 60% on the market.
