Social Services starts with the issue of refugees (08/09/2015)

Councillor of Greater Quality of Life Government, Francisco Calderon, and the Councillor for Social Services and Social Mediation, Maria del Carmen Martín of Love, accompanied by the coordinator of Social Services, Damián Pérez, and the program coordinator of immigrants, Lucia Hernandez, met this morning with Julia Fernandez Quintanilla, CEO of ACCEM, and M ohammed Kebali, ACCEM representative in Cartagena.

The reason for the meeting was, first, to present the new municipal officials, and other ACCEM explain the situation in our city, host of projects of people facing exclusion in Cartagena, lines European and project income tax financing, and mainly has spoken of migration flows that currently exist at the international level and are being treated with the utmost urgency, as ACCEM be one of the three entities, along with Red Cross CEAR (Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid), if any, responsible for working the reception of refugees that may come to our country and the region of Murcia.

Finally there has been talk about the lines of collaboration between the city of Cartagena and ACCEM in order to adjust to the new existing problems.

ACCEM is an entity which, among other actions, works acceptance, support and promotion of the most excluded, being present in settlements, mediating when a situation of discrimination occurs, working on activities in neighborhoods, making the humanitarian reception and the accompaniment of people applying for asylum, for which has three floors in Cartagena.

ACCEM develops its work in our town since 2007.
