Ivan Negueruela released its findings on Asdrubal Palace (15/07/2015)

Following the publication by the Royal Academy of History, the findings of Ivan Negueruela, director of ARQUA, on Asdrubal Palace, Punic building that makes twenty centuries, he stood up on the hill of windlass, study author unveiled archaeological arguments in a conference held on Tuesday evening in the hall of degrees of the Faculty of Business Science, former CIM.

The issue had aroused great interest.

Large audience closely followed the explanations of Negueruela.

Among those attending the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez were;

Deputy Mayor, Ana Belen Castejon;

Councilman Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon;

The area councilor for Culture and Heritage Archaeological, Ricardo Segado;

and the delegate mayor of Culture, Education and Equality, David Martínez, and Councilwoman Portal and Transparency Office, José María Soler, among others.

The first references Asdrubal Palace come from the Greek historian Polybius of Megalopolis who visited Cart Hadasht Punic middle of the second century BC.

That was the starting point for the investigation of Negueruela that began in the summer of 2000 with a discreet campaign surveys on the slopes of the hill, which allowed him to find sections of bedrock and traces of ancient walls reused in later periods .

One of its first conclusions was that the Barca palace was actually a set of rock constructions. That is, a large building excavated in the very rock on the slopes of the hill, previously prepared in terraces to allow overlapping heights.

Another conclusion was that it was facing a building of triangular plant, unheard of at the time: a scalene triangle with a hypotenuse of 250 meters, which gives an idea of its colossal dimensions, that few buildings had Antiquity

According Negueruela, the study of these ruins predicts future research on the role played by Cartagena before the Roman domination.
