Rewarded UPCT three researchers for a study on labor conciliation engineering professionals (15/07/2015)

Three professors from the Faculty of Business at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) have been awarded by the Center for Financial Studies (CEF) with the first prize for his research 'The work-life conflict and its effect on organizational commitment and desire to remain in the organization.

Teachers Maria Eugenia Sanchez, Ignacio Segado and David Cegarra have been awarded by the Center for Financial Studies at the Human Resources category.

The award, which collected Thursday in Madrid, is worth 9,000 euros and also the CEF publish the results of their research.

The project examines how teachers experienced the lack of reconciliation by engineering professionals affects fundamentals from the business point of view: the commitment to the company and the desire to remain in it.

The results were obtained as a result of analyzing a sample of 846 professional engineers.

As have the winners, this has corroborated that the lack of reconciliation harms not only organizations and individuals in the private sphere.

For this reason, the paper proposes that companies should develop, implement and support the use of reconciliation measures for both men and women who favor reducing their work-life conflict and greater responsibility.

In doing so, they indicate teachers in the project findings will be rewarded with a force of more accurate, efficient and committed workforce, and at the same time be promoting a fairer society in terms of gender equality.

He explains the researcher Maria Eugenia Sanchez, "not only have to propose and support conciliatory measures aimed at women, but also men to achieve that equality in the workplace".

Among the most effective measures include streamlining reconciliation schedules, flexible hours or days of European work.

The work is one of the results of the national project 'Reconciliation as an instrument of social inclusion of female engineer' directed by professor Maria Eugenia Sanchez and is funded by Women's Institute (Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality) to Through grants to carry out research related to women's studies and gender.

The three teachers are heavily involved UPCT with the dissemination of results to the business and social fabric, to raise awareness and to show how the culture of reconciliation of work and family life in small and medium enterprises generate economic and social value through improving the competitiveness of enterprises and the creation of quality jobs.
