Tamarugal is installed in the Byzantine Wall (09/07/2015)

The Tamarugal exhibition, Rosell Meseguer shows his collection of photographs and audiovisual and was inaugurated Thursday July 9 in the Byzantine Wall attended by the Councillor for Culture, Education and Equality, David Martinez Noguera. The exhibition will be on display from today until 31 August.

Tamarugal is another collection than the Festival La Mar de Arte XXI Edition includes in its program. Rosell Meseguer has been from 2005 to 2013 traveled to northern Chile, Bolivia and Peru.

During those trips he made a series of audiovisual recordings and photographs, as well as the start of construction of an archive of materials related to the problems of the mining and fishing industries.

The Councillor for Culture, David Martinez Noguera presented the exhibition and explained that the work plays between reality and fiction, past and present, history and memory.

The mayor continued explaining the history of Rosell, as the council has had stays in major museums such as the MOMA in New York and the Pompidou in Paris, and now comes to Cartagena Tamarugal.

In addition, it has also conveyed the importance of this work is based on documentation and photography of the problems of the mining industry and how this industry is capable of changing policies, society, economy and landscape of a country.

He currently lives between Santiago de Chile and is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
