The first Festival Cartagena Jonda, Canales-windlass, arrives this Saturday, July 4 at the Port of Cartagena, with the esplanade in front of Mare Nostrum as a backdrop.
Admission is free.
The event, organized by the Peña Flamenca Antonio Cartagena Piñana with the collaboration and sponsorship of the City of Truth, will begin at 22.00 pm and will feature performances by singers Antonio Ayala The Ramp, Curro Piñana, Vanessa Teba Garnes and Augustine;
Maise dancer Marquez and Carlos Piñana guitarists Antonio Piñana, Fran Tornero, Tano Borja Moreno and Baron.
The festival was born as a tribute to the history of flamenco in Cartagena and is inspired by two landmarks of the city.
On the one hand, the significance of the street Channels in the creation of the songs of Cartagena, Levante and Mining (where was the famous inn of the Red Alpargatero, 1859);
and secondly, in the Flemish tradition of the area of the windlass, frequented by artists and fans place since the early twentieth century, located in the heart of the city.
