Salvador Torres, except guide Theatrvm exposure at the Roman Theatre (05/06/2015)

The June 11 will guide Torres himself |

The Cartagena artist Salvador Torres opened his exhibition Theatrvm Thursday at the Museum of the Roman Theatre in a ceremony attended by the President of the Autonomous Community functions, Alberto Garre, the acting mayor of Culture, Rosario Montero, the Director General of Cultural Property in office, Maria Comas, and the director of the museum, Elena Ruiz.

A temporary exhibition that will have guided tours on Thursdays from this June at 19.00 hours visits, with the visit of June 11, the artist himself as guide exception.

Salvador Torres has a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

His work is halfway between pop and lyrical figuration, and puts us in a plastic narration between fiction and reality, a work in which each frame transmitted from the biographical reflection and dreamlike.

In the exhibition which opened yesterday the artist presents his new oil paintings inspired by the Roman theater, which becomes the place that contains more truth of all possible scenarios.

In the pictorial cycle Theatrvm his works reflect all that is possible within this space while outside their walls what we consider real can prove to be false.

It presents some scenarios populated by peacocks, bird nests, nests of wisdom, Roman dice, gambling, theatrical masks, still life and apples, out of scale in different cities, as an extraordinary phenomenon that transcends the local.

In the same plane can be dawn and dusk or succession sequences.

For this he uses a chromatic clarity and overall lightness of tone.

The Roman author and private mythology intermingle but in different episodes of physical location of the Roman theater in Cartagena, either being hidden or recovered, and trying to give an overview of the moments in your environment.

There are references to the passage of time with hourglasses and the coming and going of people over the years, tourists and residents, all unaware of the theater after all actors, but also representations of the desire to know, appearances archaeologists, restorers and technicians with the knowledge to want to rescue this culture.

These characters share scenes with peacocks and birds of paradise, symbols of spiritual rebirth and immortality.

All these elements are associated in Theatrvm to show that through the work of archaeological recovery space, their living environment and the immortal soul is rescued what was, it is and will be that building.
