Low unemployment figures in Cartagena to four years (02/06/2015)

Unemployment has fallen during the month of May in Cartagena in 516 people and jobseekers figures have fallen to levels not improved since November 2011, as stated by the Councillor for Employment of Cartagena in office, Joaquín Mowing.

The decline in unemployment occurred in all sectors except agriculture.

In relative terms, the largest decreases were recorded in the sectors of industry and construction, where descents of 109 and 156 unemployed account for 6.64 and 4.71% less unemployed, respectively.

In the services sector, with a decline of 251 enrolled, unemployment has been a percentage decline of 1.88%.

Mowing has stressed that since the peak of the crisis, in February 2013, unemployment has fallen in Cartagena in more than 2,900 people with what is now down 12% from Cartagena seeking employment.

Regarding youth unemployment in Cartagena, it has declined from the previous month and is the best month of May the past four years.

Moreover contracts registered in Cartagena in May have increased by 863 contracts from the previous month and 1,504 over May 2014.
