UPyD Cartagena reiterates the call for "immediate resignation" of Pilar Barreiro for his assignment in the "case Novo Carthago" (24/02/2015)

For UPyD candidate for mayor of Cartagena, Pedro Antonio Garcia, the PP must take "urgent" and "debug political responsibilities necessary" to end corruption in Cartagena.

The candidate of Unión Progreso y Democracia (UPyD) to the mayoralty of Cartagena, Pedro Antonio García, has called for the "immediate resignation" of Pilar Barreiro, after news yesterday that the Supreme Court has summoned to testify as imputed to the national deputy and mayor Cartagena, for his alleged involvement in the reclassification of the land of Novo Carthago.

In this sense, García said that "healthier for the political institutions of the city is that Pilar Barreiro longer present mayor and his immediate resignation."

It has also demanded that the People's Party to take measures "urgent" and "debug political responsibilities necessary" to end corruption in Cartagena, and in all institutions.

As explained by the candidate for mayor of Cartagena, Pedro Antonio Garcia, "tolerance of citizens towards corruption cases should be 0".

At the time when a politician commits a crime of this magnitude, "is seriously endangering the democratic system, increasing lack of confidence in the political class in this country."

"From Union Progreso y Democracia consider that the fight against political corruption should include proportionate penalties, but excluding those institutions charged in court in corruption trials".

Also, the local spokesman of training magenta said that UPyD stated in its Constitution that the accused can not be part of applications.

He has also said the proposals formation magenta presented during this term to prevent and combat corruption and promote democratic, such as the abolition of gauging feedback, review the criteria for pardons, end the illegal financing of political parties, as well as so-called "revolving doors".
