Student councils UPCT and UMU reject the introduction of degrees of three years (20/02/2015)

Student councils of public universities in the region have shown in a statement its profound rejection of the free implementation of the degrees of three years if they do not lead to the regulated profession today.

Student councils of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the University of Murcia (UMU) have been positioned against the Royal Decree 43/2015, approved on January 30, citing the lack of dialogue and consensus with the Ministry of Education, since "has ignored all reports submitted against this Royal Decree by the vast majority of organizations and institutions," says Oscar Huarte, president of the Student Council UPCT.

Also emphasized in its statement that this measure leads to a lack of stability of the university system due to the coexistence of three different models of studies that does not benefit achieving higher quality education.

Also, student councils UPCT and UMU support in writing the moratorium agreed by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) not to implement Degrees of less than 240 ECTS 2017.

Student Advice UPCT and UMU are the bodies that represent all students in public universities in the Region of Murcia.
