With the imminent celebration in Cartagena of Winter Cruise Forum, meeting at which this week brings together shipping worldwide, the mayor pointed out that all sectors, public and private, have to agree to make the city a point of departure and arrival of cruise
Cartagena hosts until Thursday the III Winter Cruise Forum, meeting international large shipping companies, which is a very important step on the way to get the city to become Puerto Home, a project that has been working since long and, as explained by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, requires initiatives and events of this type, we are proud that this global meeting that will showcase Cartagena is celebrated here.
It is essential that the industry knows the city and its potential as a port of departure and arrival of cruise ships, since the launch of a home port does not depend on the administration but from the private sector and the public sector which has to do is provide the necessary conditions s, assured the mayor.
In this sense, Barreiro recalled the i nfrastructures it would be necessary to develop to achieve this goal, starting with the port itself, which must have an office area, office and storage for boats, increase hotel beds, improve public transport, something that is working towards the arrival of the AVE and the development of l Mediterranean Corridor and the airport.
This afternoon, the mayor met at the Town representatives of shipping companies participating in the Palace Forum, an event organized by Seatrade and the Port Authority in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, which aims roforzar the role of the city in the sector of cruise tourism.
