Adopted by a majority extending deadlines for repayment of the advances of State (25/11/2014)

The full City Council of Cartagena, gathered Tuesday in extraordinary session, approved with votes in favor of all municipal groups except IU-Greens, who voted against the proposal of Councillor of Finance, Fatima Suanzes, of extend the term to 17 years to repay the state's 12 million remaining of the negative settlement of advances collected in 2008 and 2009 by participation in State taxes.

Suanzes, who in his speech at the Plenary Hall stressed that this measure, once approved today will be the Ministry of Finance, our liquidity expands, has met with the support of the Socialist Movement Joint-municipal groups Citizen.

During the explanation of vote, the mayor of MC, Jose Lopez, claimed that we voted in favor of this measure because we believe it is good for citizens, and what is good for Cartagena is good for Citizens Movement.

For its part, the Socialist Julio Nieto said very convinced we vote yes, you can not do otherwise, this council has to pay its debts, not just those of the settlements of 2008 and 2009, but those of the ICO bonds the Old Town .... all.

Instead, the spokesman for IU-Greens, Jaime Cayetano Molto, has positioned itself against this measure, arguing that the problem goes beyond this debt, the underlying problem is in the financing of municipalities, usually borne of the provincial councils, but in our case, manages the region.

We must settle accounts and pay back more, but that debt is not the only municipality of the Community.
