Perpetual Fire at the Museum of the Roman Theater (18/11/2014)

The Roman Theatre Museum is the first venue of the exhibition Perpetual Fire shows to be presented to the media on Wednesday November 19, at 11:00 pm at the Museum, with the assistance of the Councillor for Culture Rosario Montero, director general of the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Marta López Briones, and the director of the Museum of the Roman Theatre, Elena Ruiz Valdez.

The Perpetual Fire exhibition project, which will run from November 20 to January 19, 2015, the review presents four outstanding artists on the national scene in recent decades and represented in the collection of the ICA (Cultural Industries and the Arts) whose output shares and poetic ways of doing common root.

The mythical vision of fire, smoke, dusk and riddles that hold are addressed by works from a contemporary perspective, try to investigate these symbols crossing time. Anton Lamazares Javier Pividal, Nico Munuera and Pep Llambía raise their speeches on the ephemeral nature of existence, a melancholy view of life and love burning drive.

The historical context in which the sample, the Roman Theatre Museum, and the very presence of Roman architecture in the room unfolds gives it an exceptional character to establish a relationship between the practices and understanding of the ancient world and given in contemporaneity.

The ruins, the walls that resist fatigued but firm over the centuries show the continuity of time and how sometimes under the ashes of a fire that seems off, still glowing embers.

This exhibition allows tracing common routes where mystery, representation and procedures are shared generation after generation, as if it were a perpetual flame whose light traverse the dark and night time.

The works evoke contemporary language select those classic myths and stories from the blazing fire of the forge of Vulcan, or the sacred flame in Rome LEDAY stories swan or Eros and Psyche. Perpetual Fire shows us fresh insight and renewed these myths and works of our classical past, an innovative reinvention of the ancient tradition, held in the exhibition together, these four artists from different styles that walk between abstraction, surrealism and expressionism heiresses current with techniques different representation, with the specifics of each author, but with a theme that expresses a common and close between them something.

Perpetual Fire is part of Project Routes: Geographies of Contemporary Art, the Ministry of Culture, which aims to raise awareness of the important estate funds Collections ICA, through the production of exhibitions commissioned specifically to develop a collective interest in the contemporary art heritage of the Region of Murcia.

Sunday: 10.00 to 14.00 h.
