"Give all the laps you want, but roundabouts are safer" (18/11/2014)

The road facing Siphon, returns this week, the second phase of work to improve the regulation of traffic on three dangerous crosses this road.

It is a reform that had been pending reopened to traffic after the September 5, where they will be installed for this new roundabouts.

But do we know all motorists driving on roundabouts ?, we do it right ?.

It is common to find the presence in the circulation of roundabouts, which have managed to replace the crosses.

Roundabouts are quite useful in regulating traffic, making it easy to move them, whenever you give due consideration and having a greater focus on the path ahead and the movements of other users in the circulation.

Cartagena has in its road network of roundabouts that allow efficient channeling traffic and shown to effectively decongest vehicular traffic.

Among some we highlight the Plaza Maria Cristina located next to the English court, Severo Ochoa Square next to the leisure center Mandarache or the Gran Vía de La Manga collecting more circulation in summer.

It is proven that the majority of Cartagena know not flow at roundabouts, either riding confidence or influenced by other drivers who drive incorrectly, not allowing the maneuver correctly, being the cause of numerous accidents that are easily avoided .

Therefore it is important to note four distinct concepts in traffic roundabouts:

1. Preference circulating in the roundabout before seeking access to it, for which there is signaling obligation to give way.

2. When driving on the roundabout, do it in a counter clockwise direction, leaving the center of the roundabout driveway is to the left.

3. You can use any lane, depending on the output we should take.

4. In any case, we must signal all lane changes made within the rotunda, under Article 109 of the Rules of the road, warning other users of our maneuvers.

TIPS:

Before entering the roundabout:

Slow down.

Choose and be clear about the path that will follow once inside the roundabout.

Location into the proper lane.

Respect the preference of pedestrians and vehicles.

Inside the rotunda:

Signaled lane changes and exit.

Circle the correct lane to your destination.

No move diagonally invading lanes.

Do not stop in the roundabout, is preferable to another round.
