The City is working with FADE in supplying water to rural populations in Cameroon (14/11/2014)

The city of Cartagena is working on a project for development cooperation with FADE will help 300 people in a local area of Yaounde, Cameroon, have access to clean water by building a well.

Furthermore, it is also going to launch a training program in hygiene, nutrition and prevention of common diseases for 400 rural women.

This project of development cooperation complements the action of two previous initiatives, also financed by the city of Cartagena in 2012 and 2013, allowing now give special attention to the promotion of health and facilitate access to drinking water in the same area rural.

With this collaboration, it has helped to solve two problems diagnosed in rural Yaounde, such ignorance in health, nutrition and hygiene, as well as lack of drinking water;

conditions that penalize health status of the population and proper growth of children and youth.

Proof of this is that 50% of people who are seen in general medical appointments have malaria and 30% had disease arising from the consumption of contaminated water (intestinal infections, skin, typhoid fever).

However, most of these diseases are preventable through healthy training in hygiene and proper use of water and waste.
