The Corporation renewed its vow of Santa Catalina Borrasca (07/11/2014)

Cartagena City Council held on Saturday, November 8th, Vote Borrasca the Santa Catalina and thus fulfill the promise made ​​319 years ago when, according to the chronicles of the time, the city was saved from ravaged intersection of Four Saints and the Virgin of Rosell

The offering will coincide with the celebration of the first patron saint of Cartagena, the Virgen del Rosell, and during a religious ceremony that starts at 19.30 pm and will be officiated by the Vicar General Juan Tudela, with the assistance of representations major organizations and institutions, both civil and religious city.

The tradition of this vote goes back to the night of November 24, 1694, the day of St. Catherine in a special virulence storm struck the city and nearly raze.

Miraculously it was not her salvation prayers attributed to Cartagena went to the Four Saints and the Virgin of Rosell.

The Corporation then decided to make every year an act of gratitude to the Four Saints and the Virgin del Rosell, who has been held, first in the old Cathedral and later at Santa Maria de Gracia.

The votive function, as is known to this act, held this year Councillor for Social Policy, Antonio Calderon, who subsequently deposited a basket of flowers at the altar and kiss the relics of Four Saints preserved in this church.

After the Eucharist will be held the opening speech exalting the Virgin del Rosell, dealing with the origins of her title.

The celebration will end with a floral offering to the Virgen del Rosell by authorities, civil organizations, guilds, associations, religious associations, faithful and devotees in general.
