Companies rural housing and active recreation will be the basis of the development of the west (03/10/2014)

The City Council has presented the pilot management of tourism resources in this area of Cartagena, which has been developed with the aim to promote the launch of new businesses related to the service sector, in turn, encourage employment plan

Potential lines of development of the western area of Cartagena have a clear direction, rural tourism, and is taking advantage of the environment, the rich natural heritage and its proximity to the sea, rural accommodation businesses and active recreation would be most suitable for socio-economic development of the municipality which covers the counties Aljorra, Mills Marfagones, Perín Field Clouds and Ports of Santa Barbara.

And that was reflected in the pilot plan Management of Tourism Resources in the West Zone of Cartagena, who today presented the mayors of the departments involved in the project, such as Decentralization, Ángel Nicolás Bernal;

the Councillor for Tourism, Palazón Carolina;

Jobs and responsible and ALDE, Joaquín Segado.

The aim of this study, which was conducted under Campodos Action Group, linked to LEADER Rural Development Programme of the Region of Murcia, is boosting economic activity by opening new businesses and activities related to the tourism industry, with Last but main purpose of creating jobs, as Nicholas said Ángel Bernal, who also stressed the importance of the private sector in this process.

From the point of view of tourism, Palazón stressed that this plan is closely linked to known as 'slow tourism' movement, which is rampant in other parts of Spain, and takes advantage of the possibilities offered little urbanized area like this that keeps the original ecosystem, and also near the sea.

Regarding the participation of ALDE in this project, Councilman Jobs claimed that the Agency will be there to lend a hand and support those who wish to undertake business in the rural tourism sector, through its programs and counseling known guidance to entrepreneurs.

To make this plan pilot has done extensive fieldwork that has allowed to make a diagnosis of the situation, which reveals that the west has great tourism potential in rural tourism, and list a number of proposals for the enhancement of scenic, cultural and heritage resources in the area.

Among the values that stand out are its natural wealth (it is a little urbanized areas and natural attractions such as La Muela area);

the ethnographic resources (with elements of great historical value, such as mills, waterwheels, festivals, gastronomy);

cultural heritage (coastal batteries, areas of archaeological interest);

It is a great place to enjoy water sports and outdoor air (hiking, climbing, diving, sailing) and has a good climate space.

Building on these values, the study contains a number of proposals for action in eight areas.

As regards accommodation, it was found that the supply is scarce, except in the area of La Azohía, Plana and El Portus Island, so it is recommended enhancing facilities such as cottages, hostels, ecogranjas and also opens the possibility of considering the coastal batteries.

As for Restoration, the area has a number of restaurants, some with good level, but sees the need for improved training in the sector and enhance food and local products.

Another aspect to improve the existing tourist signage is considered insufficient, as has been detected a deficit in service companies, only two companies in the Azohía related to diving and water sports and is considered that resources are sufficiently attractive to encourage greater entrepreneurial activity.

The Natural Heritage is the main attraction of the area, with a wide range of possibilities: hiking trails, cyclocross, observation and interpretation of flora and fauna, ecotourism lodges.

But there are also cultural heritage, highlighting the ethnographic museum, which is proposed to be converted into a reception center for visitors to the area, also believes strongly in promoting local festivals and activities linked to the traditions;

and Monumental Heritage, emphasizing recovery called ethnographic heritage, wells, windmills and waterwheels characteristic of Cartagena, betting, ultimately, for a specific Tourist Promotion of the west.

The plan concludes with a profile of the target audience which can be directed to the offer, which is divided into three sections, first is the average Family Holiday travelers aged between 25 and 45 years living in urban areas of socioeconomic status and cultural -high, respectful of the environment and seeking the tranquility of the rural environment and contact with nature.

Here are also included families with children, eco farms are a defendant and attractive resource.

Then there is the active and nature tourism, adventure tourism is growing dramatically, and attracts young adults aged between 18 and 45 traveling in groups or with a partner and seek new experiences in practice water sports, diving and outdoor activities.

Finally, the foreign tourism are tourists, especially English residential, that are installed in the area looking for peace and quiet.

Ultimately, he concluded Ángel Nicolás Bernal, this plan is an instrument whose main beneficiaries have to be employers, neighbors and residents of the west side.

For that reason also contains a number of concrete proposals aimed at companies in the course of promoting the partnership and presence in social networks, creating a brand that identifies its products, improve business management, encourage innovation and increase training and advertising.

The study has cost 30,000 euros, paid for with EU funds.

VALORACIÃ "N OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN CARTAGENA

Councilman Employment, Joaquín Mowing, searched the positive side to unemployment data in Cartagena in September, which obviously is not good, has upped the number of unemployed for the first time this year, as expected, but We can also stay with another point, which is that September 30 had 2,100 fewer unemployed than January 1.

Mowing also pointed out that the service sector and the first job seekers is where more has grown unemployment in September, while the lowest figure in strategic sectors, such as manufacturing and construction, this makes us cautiously optimistic facing the end of this year.
