A Final Master UPCT recommends improving the prevention of health hazards in the aggregates industry (02/10/2014)

The Final Master (TFM) 'Industrial hygiene in the aggregates industry' Love Pedro Lozano, mining engineer and graduate Occupational Risks from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, recommends improving the prevention of health hazards for workers in the aggregates industry.

The TFM This lorquino 24, who was a fellow of the Technology Center of Marble, Stone and Materials, collected in detail each of the health hazards to which workers in different sectors exposed aggregates and identifying occupational diseases can occur if proper precautions are not taken.

Despite this, the study was able to verify through field work and consulting statistics published by government agencies, that the degree of compliance with the aggregates industry regarding industrial hygiene is quite high, with certain health hazards, such as dust, a reference for related sectors.

According to the study, jobs in the sector exposed to more and greater risks are mechanical, driller and gunner, and risks must be controlled with higher priority are dust, noise and vibration, without forgetting that in areas warm, as is the lift, should also be prioritized preventive measures in relation to thermal conditions due to temperature and relative humidity.

In order to eliminate or reduce risk exposures, the work, which was supervised by Professor Francisco López Hita recommends "making a health surveillance of employees rigorously, act primarily in the areas of risk and the environment, taking preventive measures collectively priority and not just individually, "explains Pedro Lozano.
