The Stewardship Entity Garbancillo organizes seminars for socio-economic revitalization of Tallante (22/09/2014)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and Entity Land Stewardship Conservation Garbancillo Tallante (ECUGA) have been organized under the collaboration agreement with two entities, a series of seminars and activities focused to maintaining traditional agriculture and livestock in the environment Garbancillo Tallante for socio-economic revitalization of the area west of Cartagena.

The first of the scheduled seminars to be held on 23 and 24 September in the Faculty of Business UPCT, will focus on training in entrepreneurship and business opportunities in the west of Cartagena and will be taught by José Horacio García Marí, economist, advisor and administrator Economitas SL Advisors.

The seminar "Sustainable Agriculture and livestock in western Cartagena: maintenance of traditional cultures and recovery of landraces and varieties" will be the second in this series of activities, and will take place from 29 September to 4 October at School of Agricultural Engineers UPCT.

It will involve faculty and technical UPCT CARM, IMIDA and the Association of Innovative Companies of Garrofa.

The course will conclude with a visit to the farm The Bates (Abanilla), cultivation and processing of organic foods.

Also the School of Agricultural UPCT, on 7, 8 and 9 October, will host "The tourist routes such as socio-economic revitalization initiative for the territory", in which three experts discuss the planning, establishment of signaling and sightseeing and the use of ethnographic resources in the western area of ​​Cartagena.

Finally, within the same project, the Integrated Vocational School of Hospitality and Tourism Cartagena organize the First National Pastry Competition with flour Garrofa that may participate in all hotel schools in Spain, which aims to promote a product with extraordinary food and almost totally unknown for human consumption properties.

Free activities supported Biodiversity Foundation, Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Environment, which funded "Maintaining traditional farming and ecotourism development for the Conservation of Tallante Garbancillo" project, and also aim promotion of natural and cultural values ​​of agrosystem intone in which populations of this endemic Cartagena critically endangered, which is linked to traditional crop management almond and carob rainfed and livestock are kept very extensive area.
