The Ministry of Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Community of Murcia delivered Wednesday July 9 VII Sustainable Development Awards two of whom have fallen, this year, one in the city of Cartagena, for environmental education workshops to develop the Department of Education, and one in the concessionaire of the municipality cleaning service, Lhicarsa.

At the awards ceremony, which will take place at 11.00 am in the Auditorium of the Ministry, attended by the Councillor for Education, Joseph Marotta, and Councilman Environment, Joaquín Segado latter to collect her prize of Lhicarsa.

The Sustainable Development Awards are honorary and not behave endowment, and its purpose is to publicly recognize the efforts of companies, institutions, organizations and groups in the region on sustainable development, so that they can disseminate those experiences of success and ideas that may be related to others.

The awards include several modalities.

So no prizes for Sustainable Development, as he has won Cleaning and Hygiene Cartagena SA (Lhicarsa), for the implementation of eco-management measures such as rainwater recovery, use of biomass to treat leachate or energy production electricity with landfill gas;

awards from Climate Change Initiative;

Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility in environmental and awards Environmental Education category that has been awarded the City of Cartagena.

This recognition program relates to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: The Three Rs, which has been developing since 2008 the Department of Education in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure and Lhicarsa, to bring the knowledge of the school system selective waste collection implanted in Cartagena, the ecological advantages and basic rules for its use.

Aimed at students of 3rd cycle of primary education, the workshops are held in the Ecoparque of the trough, which has enabled a didactic classroom.
