Cartagena and Andean peoples become one to celebrate the Festival of the Sun (17/06/2014)

The mayor has today received the consuls of Bolivia and Ecuador which, accompanied by the Councillor for Social Care, presented Inti Raymi, the Inca traditional celebration in honor of the sun to recreate this Saturday at the Municipal Sports Pavilion

Omar Gutierrez, vice consul of Bolivia, today presented the Inti Raymi or Festival of the Sun, which will be held in Cartagena on Saturday June 21 and commemorates an ancient ceremony in honor of the Sun God of the Incas.

On this occasion, the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, received them in his office at the Town Hall, since the City is working in this celebration through various Councils and especially the Social Care, which includes this activity within their program attention to immigrant communities. Today is a day of great joy for the city of Cartagena, because it's your opportunity to share with citizens of the countries of Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and throughout the Andean region, a cultural feast, which define their traditions and commemorated on Saturday, Calderon emphasized.

To support this initiative, the press conference was also attended by representatives of the Ecuadorian Association Virgen de Chilla and Tupacjatari association and the Bolivian group, whose work has been praised by the mayor of Social Care, for us is very important the work they do, and they also make us aware of the needs and importance to his people assume these events and we show how the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country.

Meanwhile, both Cecilia and Omar Enrique Gutierrez showed his appreciation for municipal support to initiatives that promote multiculturalism and maintaining traditions and customs helping groups representing citizens of the Andean peoples residing in this county.

The Inti Raymi, which will be held in the Municipal Sports Pavilion Wssell Guimbarda, start at 17.00 hours, is open to all citizens free event, and among the events planned for this day include the choice of the Ã'ustas 2014, the performance of groups of Ecuadorian and Bolivian folk dance and holding a sacred ritual in honor of Inti Sol, being due to the presence of a few thousand people across the region.
