Last Fridays hike up our elders (11/06/2014)

It is the activity which closed this year until next year |

Seniors Walking Program of the Department of Social Affairs closed the year with 300 km traveled, with a total of 25 routes and an average of 50 participants per output. Past Friday was the last of these activities with a distance of 18 km by Grandchildren and Salinas Marchamalo with the participation of 65 of these seniors.

The program is in collaboration with the Centers for Senior Day IMAS, Cartagena I and III.

This quarter also collaborated PROCODEMEN (Protection, conservation and sport in natural environment), the custodian of garbancillo Tallante and LIFE + project for the conservation of Garbancillo, UPCT green brigade Municipality of Pilar de la Horadada, the Association Friends of the Monastery of San Ginés de la Jara and Monte Miral hermitages, and belonging to four major Municipal Volunteer Program.

The walking program is an initiative that emerged in 2008 with the idea of promoting leisure, culture and sport, establishing meeting spaces that encourage personal relationships and where our elders feel an active part of the community.

The objectives are to promote active and healthy aging, prevention of situations of dependency, encouraging participation in activities as a means of personal development, the creation of a social network that minimizes the effects of social isolation and loneliness and publicize points of socio-cultural and environmental interest.

Until today were 300 seniors who have been through the program and 1,500 miles traveled.
