The Roman Theatre Museum will give a seminar on Women in Roman Law (27/03/2014)

The Roman Theatre Museum has organized, in collaboration with the University of Almería, the Mulier seminar.

Women in Roman law, which will take place at the museum on April 9 at 20.00 hours.

This seminar will consist of the presentation of the research work Women and Citizenship: A transverse axis in legal studies, a collective work by senior specialists in the fields of Roman Law and Legal History, and the presentation of the Monograph: Mulier.

Some Stories and Institutions of Roman Law, edited by professors of Roman law, Rosalia Rodriguez Lopez of the University of Almeria, and María José Bravo Bosch, University of Vigo.

Through first-person account of some of the works contained in this work, a path from the Lex Oppia Sumptuaria economic constraints and women, to a view on relationships, and be drawn to the role of women in the workplace, or acting as materfamilias and dominates.

In short, the seminar, which will start after a panel discussion, will focus on innovative work whose purpose is to provide, from the point of view of law, new keys for the understanding of legal institutions from a gender perspective, and an approach to the internal history of women in Antiquity.
