The Nativity is inspired by a school board of the Russian artist Andrei Rublev, dating from the fifteenth century, preserved in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

The main scene is set in a mountain which houses a cave where the Virgin lying in bed after lighting the Savior.

Mary is covered with a red blanket with outstanding three-star symbol of virginal incarnation.

Next to Mary in a manger rests the Messiah, and an angelic entourage attends the birth.

Similarly, two shepherds with their flock, flock to worship the Savior.

In the upper corner the procession of the Magi following the star announcer.

The Byzantine traditions have remained in the Orthodox Church.

In this, Christmas, unlike the Catholic tradition is celebrated on January 7.

So, on January 6, the Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, believers do all day fasting and ten p.m. go to church to celebrate Christmas Eve.

Only after the first star appears as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem, in Orthodox countries like Russia sochivo can eat a special dish that comes from the same Russian name of Eve: Sochelnik.

The sochivo is prepared with poppy and wheat grains, nuts and honey.

Each food has its own symbolic meaning: the wheat grains are associated with the Resurrection, honey health and a sweet life, and grains of poppy with a life of abundance for the whole family.
