El Batel receives his award tonight at the XII Biennial of Spanish Architecture (14/11/2013)

Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, this afternoon in Madrid attending the awards ceremony of the XII Biennial of Spanish Architecture and Urbanism in the Auditorium and Congress Palace of El Batel Cartagena has won one of the awards.

The event will preside by the Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, and will take place in the Nave 16 Matadero Madrid.

During the presentation will be an exhibition of award-winning buildings, consisting of spreading live images of the different areas winners.

These images will turn on a big screen next to the information that will form part of an open digital platform which will be available in the exhibition space or from any other point.

To do this in the Batel have installed a series of cameras, both inside the building and outside.

The Auditorium and Convention Center of Cartagena is one of the 15 winners of this year in the category CÃ VICOS SYMBOLS.

The Batel was chosen from 27 finalists who, in turn, had been selected from 166 projects accepted in this edition.

Among these projects were others Murcia as Contemporary Art Center of Ceuta Canning or Headquarters Murcia Science Park Foundation, which finally were rewarded.

Since its first edition in 1991, the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism is an event that integrates a set of initiatives related to architecture in a traveling exhibition that gathers those finalists at the Biennale.

The Biennale is organized by the Ministry of Development, through the Department of Architecture, Housing and Land, in collaboration with the Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and Fundación Caja de Arquitectos and the Union of Associations Architects Planners (UAAU).

The purpose of these awards is to recognize and reward a group of works of high quality, which may represent the best and diverse landscape architecture and urbanism in Spain for the years covered by the call, this time 2011 and 2012. Beauty innovation, respect for the values ​​of architecture, or commitment to environmental and economic sustainability are some of the factors taken into account when selecting the winners will have the opportunity to be part of the XII Biennial Spanish.
