The chestnuts announced the fall in school Asdrubal (11/11/2013)

Last week, a group of chestnut Club neighborhood over the Virgin of Charity, visited the children of Child and 1 primary and 2 of Asdrubal CEIP to announce the arrival of autumn.

The women, dressed in the classic shawl over men and the headscarf, shared with the children the morning of Friday, they enjoyed tasting chestnuts and popcorn and made drawings alluding to the fruit fall.

The chestnuts, whose figure goes back to the nineteenth century, were mature women who, year after year, sought a shelter to shelter the harshest winter months to sell chestnuts in exchange for a few coins.

Clothed to withstand low temperatures volteaban, again and again, chestnuts crisp and bouncy.

Today, the Senior Club of the Virgin of Charity neighborhood, with the collaboration of the Department of Social Services, recovers this tradition every year at this time and until Christmas, for display in schools and senior centers.
