The Corporation on Saturday renewed his vow of Santa Catalina Borrasca (07/11/2013)

Cartagena City Council held on Saturday, November 9, the Vote Borrasca Santa Catalina and thus fulfill the promise made ​​318 years ago, when, according to the chronicles of the time, by intersection of Four Saints and the Virgen del Rosell, the city was saved from being razed.

The offering will coincide with the festival on Saturday, the first patron saint of Cartagena, the Virgen del Rosell, and during a religious ceremony will begin at 19:30 and will be officiated by the vicar José Abellán, with the assistance representations of key organizations and institutions, both civil and religious city.

The tradition of this vote goes back to the night of November 24, 1694, the day of St. Catherine in a particularly violent squall struck the city and was about to raze.

Miraculously it was not and was attributed their salvation to the prayers that went to Cartagena Four Saints and the Virgin del Rosell.

The Corporation decided to make every year an act of gratitude to the Four Saints and the Virgin del Rosell, who has been held since then, first in the old Cathedral and later at Santa Maria de Gracia.

Votive function as known to this event, held this year the Councillor of Celebration, Florentina Garcia Vargas, who later deposited a basket of flowers to the altar and kiss the relics of the Four Saints preserved in this church.

After the Eucharist will be held the opening speech of exaltation to the Virgen del Rosell, to read the older brother of the Brotherhood of Christ Relief, Manuel Martínez Guillén, and will focus on the origins of her title.

The celebration will end with a floral offering to the Virgen del Rosell by authorities, civil organizations, guilds, associations, religious associations, faithful and devotees in general.
