Half of municipal vehicles that qualify to run on gas, and have acondiconado and the rest will gradually until the end of the year, within this initiative aimed at saving and sustainability

The current economic and environmental situation in which countries facing Kito Protocol aimed at curbing global warming, the City Council has opened the door for the introduction of alternative fuel systems for Mobile Park.

So, by the end of year, end of adapting 61 municipal vehicles, most Brigades Service and the local police, which have the characteristics suitable to run on gas.

To implement this measure, the council tendered public service contract Municipal Adaptation of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (LPG), which was awarded to InMotor Cartagena SL for 125,477 euros.

The adaption is the placement of a gas tank, which is filled at service stations, and acondiconamiento carburetion system, so that the car uses gasoline to start and the gas, once it has started running.

Around half of these 61 vehicles already run on gas, and the rest will be modified until the end of the year. This will mean significant savings, both maintenance of vehicles and fuel costs.

Thus, among the highlights economic benefits of 40 percent savings in fuel supply, estimated at about 60,000 per year, a figure that is based on the fact that the vehicles included in this action, all gasoline consumed 100,000 liters anuale s, and while a liter of petrol is around 1.40 euros, the d and LPG is 0.78 euros.

Thus, they recover the investment in two years.

Also, it s moving vehicles with double gas engine life due to less wear and segments of cylinders, as the gas, to be cleaner, leaving fewer deposits in the oil, saving, thus, maintenance to reduce the number of revisions and oil and filter changes.

So much for the economic benefits, to which must be added the environmental advantages, is that with the installation of LPG as an alternative fuel, reduce CO2 emissions from 237 tons to 201 tons, which represents 15 percent less.

To this we must add that reduces by 68 percent the à "nitrogen oxides and 50 percent noise, does not release carcinogenic particles and contains no sulfur or lead compounds.

This action plan is part of Cartagena approach to so-called smart cities or smart cities in the prevailing energy saving and sustainable mobility with efficient public services and are committed to the environment, an urban model that the City would not be feels alien.
