The Civil Guard finds and rescues a couple that was lost after going sailing with a small boat (23/10/2013)

Due to cold, fatigue and the state of the sea, rescue lasted for two hours

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia during yesterday afternoon spotted a couple who sailed a small boat for the coastal area of ​​El Portus, Cartagena, and, with the help of the Red Cross, were eventually rescued and taken to earth.

By mid-afternoon yesterday, day 22, the Meritorious learned that a couple of German citizens who were staying in a campsite was divided with toy sailing (small boat with electric motor) in the coastal area of ​​El Portus, Cartagena without which he heard from them since his departure.

The patrol "Rio Guadalentin" Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, traveled to the coastal area indicated to search for these people who, minutes later, were located in close proximity to a creek with no road access.

The localized were wet and dejected, and showed signs of exhaustion due to existing heavy swell, so that expedited the start of the rescue, which joined the boat "Athena" of the Red Cross to assist with the Civil Guard.

After several attempts to rescue the couple to no avail, because the peculiarities of the area where they were and the state of the sea, one of the policemen jumped into the water and managed to finally ship them as physical fatigue and cold collaboration difficult of those found, culminating after two hours of rescue efforts.

The rescued were taken to the port of Santa Lucia in the port city where they were treated by a unit medicalized Murcia Health Service.
