The history of the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, bare back (02/10/2013)

Starting tomorrow, Thursday 3 October until January 30, 2014 will be open for the second time, the sample history of a discovery.

From tomorrow, Thursday, October 3, and to mark the anniversary V Roman Theatre Museum, you can enjoy the exhibition history of a discovery.

History of a project: the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, which has been discussed above in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia (2009), cultural classroom Cajamurcia Foundation in Madrid (2010) and Tarragona (2011).

This exhibition was also during the early months of the opening at the Museum of the Roman Theatre and now returns to its temporary exhibition until January 30, 2014.

The exhibition takes visitors which meant the discovery of the Roman Theatre in one of the most depressed areas of the city, as well as the story of his recovery. A long and complex process, but exciting ending with the opening of the Museum of the Roman Theatre on July 11, 2008, the project has been funded by the Foundation of the Roman Theatre of Cartagena, where he participated the City of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and Cajamurcia Foundation.

The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections, history of discovery, archaeological excavation.

Evolution of the works, the restoration of the monument, and comprehensive recovery project of the Roman Theatre and its museum, which collected through photographs, text and graphic material varied with almost journalistic treatment, the recovery process of the monument starting from the evolution of archaeological work, in accordance with the parameters of the restoration of the monument and continuing evolution of the integrated project, designed by architect Rafael Moneo.

Along with graphic panels, is the exhibition showcases various working papers and research, and a selection of archaeological pieces that reveal the regular work of cataloging the objects recovered during the excavation.

The translation of the comprehensive project is further assisted with the exhibition of the model of the implementation project, to visualize in three dimensions the complexity of the museum tour, from low levels of the city to the interior of the monument, and the adequacy of its environment .
