In the center of Times Square in New York, surrounded by the huge neon signs, musical and tourists, the sample exhibits Look Lima to be displayed in a few days in Cartagena.

A postal mode, photographers Morgana Vargas Llosa and Peruvian Jaime Travezán have been a number of r etratos that record tradition, history and beliefs of dozens of families of Lima in the photographic exhibition which goes directly from Peru to Cartagena for exposure at the festival The Sea of Music.

From here begins the first step in an extensive tour of various rooms and museums of Europe.

In Cartagena will be on display at the Palace Hall from July 15 to August 31.

Look, Lima meets recorded images that not only space and time but raises many stories and tradition.

There are 50 pictures of different families of Lima that reflect the many ways of being, to exist.

Of the many ways in which they live, work, and believe the Peruvians.

There are families of Arab origin, Japanese, Italian, several provinces.

All of our century Lima after all.

With this project, the authors have sought to contribute to better living of his countrymen: we live isolated and small bubbles from which not go out for fear, mistrust and lack of information, among other factors, says Morgana Vargas Llosa, Nobel laureate daughter Mario Vargas Llosa. We are aware that we have a pending discrimination and the lack of integration in our city.

We believe the best way to be proud of the differences that distinguish us is watching us and knowing our neighbors, said Jaime Travezán, the other photographer responsible for the sample.

Both will be in Cartagena.

We are 8 million 432 000 Lima.

Do we look hard enough?

Do we really know?

With these questions born photographic project whose primary objective is to show the cultural diversity of Peru.'s 50 families portrayed are anonymous.

They could be distant cousins, neighbors of childhood, the owner of the Chinese restaurant, the neighborhood tailor or fashion designer.

Any of us would be here.

All these families opened the doors of their houses and were released.

They chose their most beloved for, as in a play, to stage his own life: who they are, how they dream and what they believe.

They searched the elements that represent the most sincere: someone chose the suitcase that twenty years ago used to travel to the capital of Cuzco, others wanted to show his family album, the dishes that people his Sunday instruments that put music to their lives or books that expanded their horizons.

In many cases, families were extended and embraced new members: workers, friends or students.

Since I was a checkerboard of 17 blocks, Lima has always been a city of opportunity for those willing to progress arrived.

He has been both provincial migrants to the Italians, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, French or German, with their customs and beliefs are enriching and multiplying the city for 478 years.

Since then, we share the mist, sea and longing: to be Lima is a psychological trait, a mood, something that defines us and binds us.

However, there is still the fear to look at ourselves, to put ourselves in the place of others and accept.

Look, Lima is an invitation to meet us without prejudice and walk down a plural Lima, whose houses and streets reflected the world.
